Reign(a): Wake Up and Smell the Rose Water with Princess Nokia

Reign(a) [REY?-nah] n: a bomb femme who takes no shit.

Reign(a) is an interview series featuring strong females who challenge cookie-cutter definitions of “feminism.” Through social media and other channels, an unprecedented number of artists are leveraging their online personas to dismantle archaic ideals of womanhood. Reign(a) will shine a light on these faces in an attempt to reclaim the female image. We will talk to and learn from fly women who inspire others. Not because it’s cool, but because conformity is boring.

In this episode, Princess Nokia explains how to make rose water spritz – a process that she believes brings her confidence. As an artist, Princess Nokia made her debut in 2010 with the release of the Crystal Waters’-inspired “Bitch I’m Posh,” released under FKA Wavy Spice. As metamorphic as her stage names, Spice became Nokia in 2014 and is releasing her upcoming EP, 1992, under the same name. The EP explores identity and race, challenges Western notions of beauty, and brings the power back to the pussy!

Check out her video for “Tomboy,” which we premiered earlier this year.
