PREMIERE: Pre98Aaron “Odyssey” ft. El Camino & Grill Billyenz Is a Hustler’s Lament

It’s fitting that we’re premiering Pre98Aaron’s first vinyl release today.

This morning (November 13), Daupe Media released their biggest project yet — the 12-inch single from Westside Gunn and DOOM’s WESTSIDEDOOM collaboration.

What does that have to do with this dude Aaron, you ask. Well, on Instagram last week he shared a story about how he came to produce “Odyssey,” with the Daupe drop being the catalyst.

According to Pre98Aaron, a year ago, he’d been eagerly trying to cop a coveted Griselda record, but failed to secure one before they sold out. It made him think that perhaps he should just release his own 7-inch.

A burgeoning hip-hop instrumentalist, Pre98Aaron has dropped three beat tapes already this year, but his work is taken to a new level when paired with talented lyricists like Griselda Records rookie El Camino, who just dropped a self-titled EP on Saturday, and Aaron’s homie Grill Billyenz.

“Odyssey” finds Camino and Billyenz spitting hustler laments over a plaintive guitar lick. We hope you got a copy of WESTSIDEDOOM, but you should also grab this 7-inch, because it’s the start of something brand new and hauntingly beautiful.
