Post Malone Returns with “Rockstar,” Featuring 21 Savage

Post Malone’s major label debut, Stoney, may not have been released to a ton of fanfare, but the Dallas singer and rapper has continued to apply pressure. Less than a year since the project’s release, Posty returns with another heater, tapping 21 Savage for assistance. Stream “Rockstar” below.

Many thought Malone’s run would extend as far as his breakthrough hit “White Iverson” took him, but he’s outrun his first Hot 100 hit—and then some. Since “White Iverson” blew up, Post has charted twice more on Billboard with “Too Young” and “Congratulations,” the Quavo-assisted cut that earned Post a run not seen by any other rapper alive this year: 30 consecutive weeks on the Hot 100.

“Rockstar” feels like the type of record that can give Post his fourth Billboard entry. Aside from his proven penchant for contagious melodies and R&B-infused, trap adjacent rhythms, Post is joined by a resurgent 21 Savage on the track, who just moved nearly 80,000 first-week units of his Issa Album LP with no lead single. Plus: “I’ve been in the Hills fuckin superstars, feeling like a pop star,” is how he opens his verse.

Ain’t that the truth? Post has promised his Beerbongs and Bentleys album this summer. That timeline is unlikely, but he won’t have an issue with the fanfare surrounding his album if he keeps at this pace.
