PREMIERE: Lambo Anlo is “On My Way”

There are some songs that are just so catchy that you can’t fight them. They manage to make any and everybody’s head nod. The best of them even have you singing along before the end of your first listen. On My Way is that type of tune.

Rostrum Records introduced us to superstars Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller, and now they’re back with an artist that seems poised for similar success, Lambo Anlo. This young, D.C.-area MC combines singing and rapping to create a style all his own. It’s clear from his cadence that he’s influenced by more than just hip hop. In fact, he was raised on healthy doses of Motown soul and D.C. Go-Go music. His new single, On My Way, is built around a short but funky loop that sounds almost Middle Eastern. It could very well be sitar. While a lot of rappers would have a hard time figuring how to flow on a beat like this, Lambo zones right the fuck out. You would be hard pressed to not get caught up in his bounce on this one.

If you’re a DJ, play this at the club and when the third hook comes in, turn the music right down and see how many people are singing, “I be on my way, I’m on my way.”
