Kamaiyah Shows You How to Blow a Check in Her New Video for “Successful”

Guess who isn’t broke anymore?

Yup, she’s back. After an insane freshman run, which included exploding out of the underground with “How Does It Feel” and a collaboration with Drake, Kamaiyah is ready for another go, evidenced by “Successful,” the flashy, warm video for her new single.

It’s nearly holiday season, but you wouldn’t know it watching the Oakland rapper ride around in a droptop, dancing on the backseat as if it were mid-July. And the party isn’t relegated to the streets. A camouflage-themed pool party eventually takes over the scenery, interpolated with two-stepping on the back of a jet ski. She wasn’t kidding when she rapped, “I wonder how it feels to just live,” on “How Does It Feel.”

Kamaiyah was supposed to drop her follow-up to A Good Night in the Ghetto—a mixtape titled Don’t Ever Get It Twisted—in April. But after being postponed once due to sample clearance issues, the project was never released, leaving fans feeling somewhat duped. With “Successful” out, she can count on that turning into rabid anticipation.
