PREMIERE: Eto “Ritual” prod. by V Don x Kill

To all the heads complaining that hip hop has devolved into mumble rap and Lil Boats: save your breath. There is still plenty of heat out there, it’s just not going to be spoon-fed to you. If you’re a fan of ’90s boom bap or even hardbody rap from the ’00s, right now is a renaissance. That fly or die, block shit has come back around and is bubbling just under the surface.

Don’t believe anyone is making that Wu-Tang/Boot Camp/Mobb Deep type of hip hop anymore? Well, we shouldn’t have to tell you about Meyhem Lauren and Your Old Droog, and if you been up on what we’re feeling over here at MASS APPEAL, you know we ’bout that Griselda product, and bonus points if you’re banging The Winners, Mach-Hommy, Tha God Fahim, or Willie the Kid. If you’re already religiously checking for anything and everything to come from this wave (Daupe fiends, we looking at you), Eto and V Don is what you need next. Not to say this Rochester MC and Harlem producer are new to the game, but if you don’t have their EP Omertà The Film on heavy rotation, then you obviously need a proper introduction. While that project dropped towards the beginning of the year, the buzz on their single “High” with Mayhem Lauren has been steadily building. The Upstate and Uptown duo will capitalize on this recent attention by dropping a video for that track this summer.

Today MASS APPEAL brings you a brand new Eto track titled “Ritual” that is produced by V Don along with Kill. Eto delivers his classic East Coast flow over a haunting piano loop that seems to float just above the concrete-hard drums. When asked about their partnership, Eto compares himself and V to the Blue Brothers, adding, “Don sends the work and I execute!”

Eto x V Don’s Omertà The Film EP will be available on vinyl and cassette in July.
