dj shadow the mountain will fall

DJ Shadow “Nobody Speak” ft. Run the Jewels

After DJ Shadow announced his upcoming The Mountain Will Fall, there was clearly a most-anticipated song hiding in the tracklisting: Run the Jewels had decided to hop on a DJ Shadow production. The combination of DJ Shadow and El-P on a single track is enough to make underground hip-hop heads everywhere lose their shit, but adding Killer Mike into the mix definitely makes it one of the coolest collabs of the season. On the track itself, El is especially rude and ferocious, both members stunting and flexing their confidence and lyrical talents. As promised, Shadow’s production has diverged from the dusty sample digging that made albums like …Endtroducing so legendary, and has delved into experimentation with strings, horns, and bassline, while maintaining a futuristic electronic touch. Shouts out to the extended Audio Two reference, and El’s bar of “Flame ya crew quicker than Trump fucks his youngest.” Stream below.

The Mountain Will Fall is out June 24th on Mass Appeal Records.
