Amine Taps Issa Rae and Scary Spice for “Spice Girl” Video

Amine told the word he needed a bad thing, fine as hell, thick as fuck. Then he blew up, but the wishlist remained intact. For the latest video off Amine’s debut full-length, Good For You, the Portland native reveals that he now needs a “Spice Girl.”

Like many of his other videos, “Spice Girl” is colorful, energetic and a tad strange. Amine opens the clip with a naked woman curled up with him on a couch, except she has his face. It then progresses to a scene that resembles an elementary school theater reenactment of a police brutality incident. Later, an incarcerated Amine gets a visit from a “British girl” he’s been plotting on, who turns out to be Insecure co-creator and star Issa Rae.

The Golden Globe nominee isn’t the video’s only surprise guest, either. Just when the action comes to a close, Melanie Brown, better known as Scary Spice, makes an explicit entrance, yelling blunt advice at Amine as she plays the role of director within the video (Amine actually directed it himself). “I want you to stop acting like a fucking pussy!” she screams. She also references the “I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want” line from the Spice Girls hit “Wannabe,” which is also sampled in this song’s chorus.

Good For You dropped in July, and features appearances by Ty Dolla $ign, Offset, Charlie Wilson and more.
