This Brooklyn Father Was Shot and Killed Over a Fucking Hat

A dad trying to reclaim his son’s hat was shot to death Wednesday night in Flatbush, reports the Daily News. Gerald Cummings, 38, received a call from his 17-year-old son telling him that one of teens who stole his Don C Oakland Raiders cap a few days earlier was wearing it while playing basketball at a nearby court. The father walked up to the 16-year-old who stole the pricey hat — which sell upwards of $400 — and snatched it off his head. As the man walked away with his son, one of the thief’s friends drew a gun and fired, hitting Cummings three times in the back and head. He was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital shortly after. When a reporter asked Cummings’ grieving son about his father, he cried out, “No! No! No!” Cummings also leaves behind an 11-year-old son. Police are looking for the suspects, but no arrests have been made, yet.
