The White House Let Trolls Into the Press Briefing Room

Gateway Pundit, the far right, often false, often racially insensitive, often bigoted site with “twinks4trump” creator Lucian Wintrich now as their mascot, was allowed in the White House press briefing room Monday and they didn’t waste any time doing what they do best–trolling.
The outwardly pro-Trump blog is frequently a propagator of outright false news. The site’s creator, Jim Hoft, was once called the “dumbest man on the Internet.” That could be because of the constant flow of stories like “Heil Al!… Sharpton Gives Naszi Salute at Rally?” and countless other false stories, as pointed out here.
It was announced prior to Trump’s inauguration that the site would have a spot inside the White House press briefing room and yesterday that became a dark reality with Wintrich at their official White House correspondent.
Here’s what happened on day one:
Yup, that’s their homage to Pepe the Frog, the official mascot for the alt-right that was added to the ADL’s (Anti-Defamation League) list of hate symbols last year.
Media Matters, a not-for-profit “research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media” had this to say of Wintrich:
He is close with figures of the racist and misogynist so-called “alt-right” who are known for launching online harassment campaigns that frequently target women. Wintrich’s art exhibit featured “contributors” like Breitbart.com editor and transphobic serial harasser Milo Yiannopoulos, “Pharma bro” Martin Shkreli, misogynist and racist conservative troll Gavin McInnes, and deluded “citizen journalist” vigilante James O’Keefe, among others, when he brought it to New York City in October. “We’re bringing back the Rat Pack,” Wintrich captioned a photo of Shkreli, himself, and Yiannopoulos. This group also regularly tweets about and directly at each other, praising and participating in one another’s misguided projects.
The “leftist” media were not the only ones to call out the move by the White House to allow Gateway Pundit in the press briefing room, even members of conservative media sites were taken back.
Ultra-conservative political blogger Erick Erickson wrote on his new site, The Resurgent, “ I think the White House does the American people a great disservice by inviting Gateway Pundit in to the press briefings. I’m not sure there is a greater purveyor of fake news on the left or right than that site.”
Funny twist on this whole little hoopla is Wintrich doesn’t even consider himself a journalist.
