PREMIERE: DJ Skizz “Bosses” ft. Roc Marciano & Conway Video

DJ Skizz may be best known as Your Old Droog’s tour DJ, but don’t front on your boy’s skills on the MPC. Not only has he been behind the boards for a lot of Droog’s bangers, he’s also helmed dope tracks for Sean Price (RIP), Masta Ace, Havoc, and more. When not on the road or in the lab, Skizz has been plotting the rise of his label, Different Worlds Music Group, and curating his second studio album, Cruise Control. If you haven’t bumped the first single “Listen To Jazz” featuring Droog, do yourself a favor and catch up.

On the second single, “Bosses,” Skizz recruits Roc Marciano and Conway to establish lyrical dominance over a dramatic two-part beat. The track was drummed up by Skizz with the help of Frank Dukes and starts with a Night Court theme-like piano roll that rides insistent hi-hats, then church organs and muted boom bap take over in the second half. Roc and Con lay into the beat like it was caught embezzling from their operations.

The video, directed and animated by Orign, starts with vintage footage that looks like it was ripped straight from Wild Styles and then transitions into some fresh Flash animation that recalls classic ‘80s video games like Out Run and Double Dragon.

On top of sharing Skizz’s “Bosses” vid, we’re gonna give you a link to stream the whole Cruise Control album that officially drops today! It features verses from Evidence, O.C., Planet Asia, Big Twins, Hus Kingpin, and more. Happy weekend!
