Playboi Carti Won’t Face Battery Charges in LAX Incident
The “Magnolia” rapper allegedly got physical with his girlfriend after an argument
The Los Angeles City Attorney will not file charges against Playboi Carti following an alleged physical altercation with his girlfriend at LAX airport in July. Instead, the pair will sit for an “informal hearing,” per TMZ, to amicably resolve the situation.
On July 7, reports surfaced that Carti had been involved in an argument with a woman at LAX that turned physical. The woman was later identified as Carti’s girlfriend of three years, and Carti was eventually arrested for his role in the ruckus. Allegedly, Carti was urging his girl to contact her family. When she didn’t oblige the situation intensified, and witnesses told TMZ Carti was slapped by his girlfriend, and that he retaliated by yanking her by her book bag straps as they exited the terminal. Carti was arrested on misdemeanor domestic battery charges and released on $20,000 bail the following morning.
Though a peaceful resolution seems imminent, the July LAX incident is another blemish in what’s been a roller coaster summer for the A$AP Mob and its affiliates. A$AP Bari’s relationship with Nike was terminated at the end of July when video footage of a troubling altercation between him and a naked woman surfaced on social media, while A$AP Rocky’s L.A. home was robbed of more than $1 million back in May.
