25 Payday Records Essentials

Last week the legendary east coast hip hop label Payday Records announced a relaunch on its 25th anniversary. Setting things off with “Our Streets,” a collaboration between legendary producer DJ Premier and Harlem rapper A$AP Ferg, Payday began its initiative of bridging the generation gap in hip hop.

Known for their deep relationships with seminal New York producers like Premier, Showbiz, and Diamond D, Payday has a longstanding history of providing the world with the sound of sample-based hip hop. To celebrate the relaunch, MASS APPEAL took a deep dive into the Payday catalog and selected 25 of our favorite records, ranked in order of personal preference although honestly they’re all dope AF.
