On The Grind: Robert Thompkins

On this episode of On The Grind, we link up with Robert Thompkins, a tried-and-true skateboarder. A little less than a decade ago, Thompkins broke his back during a cliff diving trip, preventing him from being able to skate. Since then, Thompkins has been on a tremendous journey to get back to the thing that he loves, skateboarding.

Skateboarders are known to be collaborative and innovative; these inherent traits led to Thompkins hitting up a homie to specially design and produce a wheelchair that would get him rolling again. Although his plight would be cause to quit for some, that perseverance to push boundaries has gotten Thompkins back in the park and dropping in. Nothing comes easy, as he illustrates and discusses in the episode, but he hopes his story and journey will keep pushing skateboarding culture forward.
