The Pressure’s On, Disney: Cast Migos as the ‘Lion King’ Hyenas

You probably had no idea how much you loved this idea until you read it. Now, envision away. Quavo, Takeoff and Offset, the three (a)Migos, cast as the wily, conniving hyenas in Disney’s live-action reboot of its classic Lion King film. Though Disney has already cast solid actors in the dubiously memorable roles of Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, Quavo has a better idea.

Eric Andre, Keegan Michael-Key and Florence Kasumba have already signed on to play the hyenas in the reboot, set to hit theaters in the summer of 2019, but it’s hard not to imagine the “Motor Sport” rappers in their place, prowling about Disney’s “pioneering filmmaking experience” with glistening VVS-studded collars and Versace bandanas dangling from their “tails.” (Not that hyenas are known for accessorizing, but be honest. That’d certainly be a deal breaker for the Migos.) The original pack of hyenas is known for finishing each other’s sentences, their playful-yet-mischievous demeanor and rhetorical questioning. Like, Do it look like I got left off “Bad and Boujee?”

Imagine this dialogue in a double-time delivery.

QUAVO: Oooooooooooh, anybody seen Simba?
TAKEOFF: I think he went up there with Pumba
QUAVO: Where’s up there, can we take the stairs
OFFSET: Pride Rock (Mufasa)

The opportunities are endless. Boundless.

That said, the probability of Migos as hyenas is almost zero. The actors that Disney has slated in the roles are all top-flight acts, and the rappers’ inexperience on the big screen will be a red flag beside seasoned vets like Donald Glover and James Earl Jones.

Who needs a co-sign, though? Quavo is already into his first script.
