Meet the Teenage Drake Stans Who Ran Up On Joe Budden
Jumpoff Joe Beezy will find you, and he will talk to your family
Kids are fucked up nowadays. I’m not saying that we weren’t just as bad, but we also didn’t have the internet to broadcast the juvenile shit we did to people. Take Andre and Reda, the 16-year-olds from New Jersey who became internet famous earlier this week for posting videos of themselves heckling Joe Budden at his New Jersey home. The footage shows the rapper chasing the pair on foot and in a car—apparently they made several visits to his house this past Sunday to shout curses at him and Drake lyrics.
Within 24 hours of them uploading their photos and videos of the incident, dozens of Joe Budden memes were spawned and spread quickly across the interwebs. Andre, who’s Hispanic, and Reda, who’s Middle Eastern, said they wanted to tell their side of the story once they heard a string of interviews that Budden did. Joined by their 18-year-old boy Joey, a self-admitted Joe Budden fan who’s not proud of what his friends did, the social media junkies who can’t put down their phones for more than a few minutes, stopped by the Mass Appeal offices Wednesday night. They actually seem like sweet kids in person, but also admit to being adolescent assholes who regularly troll people.
Reda gave us his version of events along with exclusive footage he shot of the rapper at his house, talking to his brothers. In that clip, a very reasonable Joe Budden voices his concerns about the kids — who only live a couple of minutes away — harassing him, and notes that things could have ended up a whole lot worse.
Ultimately, despite the amount of “death threats” and “hate” they’ve received on Twitter and Instagram, both Andre and Reda are not remorseful at all. However, one of them did admit that once this new video drops, they’re out.
“I’m leaving the state,” said Reda. ‘Because Joe Budden is going to get you?,’ I inquired. “No, I’m going on vacation,” he laughed. “My mom’s paying for it.”
