Public Memorial Service for Lil Peep Announced

A public memorial service will be held for Lil Peep (born Gustav Åhr) this Saturday in Long Island, New York. The event will consist of speakers at the Allegria Hotel (80 West Broadway) at 2:20 PM, with a beach gathering to follow.

News of the memorial was announced through Peep’s verified social media channels, the only official way to get Peep information. Instead of flowers, it has been requested that memorial gifts take the form of donations to the charitable organization Oxfam.

Before he died from a suspected accidental overdose on November 16 in Tucson, Arizona, Peep was breaking into the mainstream through his intersection of rap music and emo rock. At just 21, he was an affecting songwriter with a huge following, and his life has already been celebrated with over a dozen fan-organized vigils across the U.S., as well as in Canada, Germany, France and Russia, with more to come.

Fake merch sprung up right away after Peep died, so it’s important to respect the line of communication established by Peep’s family. Unless it’s on a verified Peep social media account, or you hear about it straight from his mom Liza Womack, it’s fake news.
