Here’s Dej Loaf and Jacquees’ Joint Mixtape, ‘Fuck A Friend Zone’

It’s a semi-mythical place feared so intensely it’s been compared to purgatory: the friend zone. The mere uttering of the term alone is enough to make the hairs on the back of a single 20-something stand straight up; Drake even wielded it as a weapon in his “Back to Back” diss track to Meek Mill. On their new, perfectly timed collaborative mixtape, Fuck A Friend Zone, Dej Loaf and Jacquees would like to remind you how much they, too, hate the friend zone.

Dej Loaf had a relatively quiet 2016, after spending 2015 notching another hit in the top half of the Hot 100 and enjoying her increased commercial interest following her 2014 hit “Try Me.” In 2017, the Detroit rapper has plans to release her major label debut album, Liberated, but she’s teamed with equally promising Cash Money singer Jacquees, who’s emerged as a force to be reckoned with on the contemporary R&B scene. That is, thanks in large part, to his latest mixtape, Since You Playin’, which was released on January 25 and has racked up nearly a quarter-million streams on DatPiff.

Oh, and if Dej Loaf and Jacquees wanted to get rid of those rumors that they’re dating, well, let’s just say they didn’t do that here.
