Eminem By the Numbers

Earlier this month, Eminem capped off 2017 with Revival, his ninth solo album. In a career that’s lasted nearly two decades, Em has proven himself to be an infinitely talented artist who’s inspired a legion of super shady imitators. Once an upstart in the hip hop game, Eminem is now an institution. The global superstar got his start as a battle MC in Detroit (a time of his life that was partially fictionalized for the film 8 Mile) before famously developing under the tutelage of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. Since the late 1990s he’s brought super-lyricism to the pop world, shepherded crucial talent through the rap industry via Shady Records (it looks like Buffalo’s Westside Gunn and Conway the Machine are up next), and consistently sparked controversy by just not giving a fuck.

Revival just debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 267,000 equivalent album units (197,000 of which are traditional album sales). But those aren’t the only numbers that matter. We crunched the essential data on Eminem’s history—from 50 Cent team-ups, to Oscars wins, to f-bombs dropped—for the latest edition of our video series, By the Numbers. Check it out above.
