D.R.A.M. “Cha Cha” Video

Virginia Beach artist D.R.A.M.’s “Cha Cha” dropped back in 2014, but has slowly been gaining traction over the past couple months. He’s been invited by World’s Fair, Sango, Goldlink, and more to perform the track live, and even Rick Rubin‘s a fan. The Gable Niles-produced track is infectiously catchy, with Mario Bros. samples backing D.R.A.M.’s playful rapping and singing. The Nathan R. Smith-directed clip features cinematography from GDBYM and perfectly captures the celebratory vibe of the track. Julia Mills of GDBYM revealed that the video was “shot over two days in Virginia Beach. We used eight pounds of confetti, 12 cartridges of CO2, and six locations. We wanted to make it really evoke the Mario theme that was sampled in the song, so that’s why we hired an animator to incorporate 8-bit graphics.”
