Chris Brown’s Role on ‘Power’ Rescinded Following LAPD Incident
Another L for the R&B singer
Chris Brown’s eventful week is beginning to negatively impact other areas of his life, as he’ll reportedly be blocked from appearing in cable hit Power after his standoff with LAPD and SWAT task forces made national headlines.
Reports began circulating early on Tuesday that Chris Brown had been accused of threatening a woman with a gun at his home during a meeting with friends. Police arrived before dawn at Brown’s home on Tuesday morning, and surrounded his estate for several hours before detectives were finally allowed in that afternoon. Brown would eventually be arrested, but would quickly be released on $250,000 bond.
Since his arrest, a surplus of information has been made public about his accuser, including reports that she was wanted for a purse snatching in New York, and that she had a history of lying to police. It remains to be decided by authorities whether the accusations hurled at Brown are based in real occurrences, and the entertainer has maintained his innocence on social media in the days since. He’s also released new music; a jovial new cut called “What Would You Do?” surfaced on his official Soundcloud yesterday, just hours after the commotion cleared.
Unfortunately, the drama hasn’t subsided yet for Brown. Today, Page Six learned that Brown would no longer be allowed to act on 50 Cent’s hit show Power. 50 and Brown have had a close relationship for years, and 50 invited Brown to be a guest on the show this season. However, when network executives caught wind of this week’s drama, they decided not to let their star producer bring on Chris Brown this season. Per Page Six:
50 promised Chris a big role on ‘Power,’ playing a drug dealer. But 50 didn’t consult the network first, and execs were not happy when they found out about it… The network insisted that Chris’ casting was not going to happen, because of fears about his anger issues. There was a big blowup, and they had to tell Chris he was not going to get the role. The news was delivered to him early Monday. He was livid.
The investigation into the allegations against Brown are still ongoing.
