Cam’ron and Jim Jones Are Back Beefing Thanks to This Argument on Dave East’s Instagram Page

The devolution of The Diplomats has haunted many a rap fan, and this news won’t help any of them rest any easier. Cam’ron and Jim Jones are active enemies again, evidenced by a bitter spat in the comments section of a post on Dave East’s Instagram page.

The post in question is a picture of Dave East and Cam’ron performing at East’s Kairi Chanel release party, a sold-out affair at New York City’s Highline Ballroom. In the caption, East reflected on how good it felt to be passed the torch by Cam’ron, a Harlem legend, prompting Jim Jones to comment. “Lol, the torch,” Jones began. “Tell him make you Dipset lol.”

It’s unclear exactly what Jones meant by the comment, but Cam’ron picked up on its negative connotation, and fired back with a series of comments, in which he referred to Jones as “JOMO.”

Things got a little spicy between #JimJones and #Camron in #DaveEast’s comments 😩😩 #PettyWap #ClapbackSeason

The irony here is eye-popping. Dave East is the most refreshing rap product of Harlem since the A$AP Mob, and his ascent from mixtape maestro to Def Jam’s latest signee is one of the feel-good hip hop stories of the year. He’s had an especially torrid October, in which he signed on Def Jam’s dotted line, dropped a project that’s already been streamed millions of times, and the Highline Ballroom show. That said, the fact that his very brief ode to Cam’ron sparked controversy between Cam and Jim speaks to how strenuous relations between the two rappers have been. For years–especially recently–both rappers have publicly detailed the up-and-down nature of their relationship, despite the occasional collaboration.

Hopefully, these guys figure it out before it’s too late. With Juelz back on the scene, they might have one more shot at that reunion album.
