PREMIERE: AG x EyeDee “Certified”

There is not too many hip-hop artists from the ‘80s and ‘90s that still make dope music. And only a handful of those actually release anything on a consistent basis. There’s Nas of course, Masta Ace comes to mind, certain Wu members for sure, same with Hiero…

If you’re a real head, you know DITC has kept their beats and bars up over the decades. However, out of the whole crew, AG has been the most productive in recent years. His affiliation with Red Apples 45 label has seen him drop joint EPs with Ray West, John Robinson (x2), and Party Arty (RIP) since 2015. And just this summer Andre and Showbiz got back together for their first album in five years titled Take It Back, which was released by the DITC Studios label.

Hip-hop is clearly still AG’s full time job, so it should come as no surprise that he is up on the same new wave of hardcore hip-hop that MASS APPEAL has been heavily tapping into this year. The Giant recently hooked up with Venice Beach beat-butcher EyeDee and some of his most trusted collaborators to create a classic DITC-sounding posse cut. This one ticks off all the boxes. Hard-ass beat, check. MCs with distinct styles who compliment each other, check. Skilled DJ cutting in a scratch hook, check. What else do you need to know? Listen now. And much respect to the OGs who care enough about the culture to stay up on what’s poppin’.
